A Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle parked in the 1600 block of West 23rd Street sustained $9,000 damage between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Thursday, a Lawrence Police report said. A 23-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man reported the vandalism.

 Someone removed a black Eddie Bauer jacket and 44 other items from a green Mitsubishi Mirage parked in the 1000 block of Vermont Street, a Lawrence Police report said. The vehicle sustained $100 damage during the theft, which occurred between 11 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday. The 18-year-old Tonganoxie woman who reported the theft estimated the items’ worth at $1,614.

 A radar detector, leather purse and 10 other items were removed between 12:30 a.m. and 1:50 a.m. Saturday from a vehicle parked in the 800 block of West 24th Street. A 20-year-old Kansas University student reported the theft. The items were valued at $1,117.

Police reports

 A 60-year-old man who owns El Matador Cafe, 446 Locust St., told Lawrence Police that someone broke off the tops of the 6-foot wooden planks along 20 feet of a privacy fence that marks the back of the property. The damage, which occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday, was estimated at $100, Sgt. Paul Fellers said.
