Emporia site of W&P session

Wildlife and Parks commissioners will conduct a public meeting and hearing on Thursday at the Best Western Hospitality House in Emporia.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. with general and workshop discussion on a variety of issues. The public hearing portion of the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with the public invited to all sessions.

General discussion topics will include an overview of Wildscape projects in the Emporia area and a report on prairie chicken populations.

The afternoon session will recess at 5 p.m., and the Commission will reconvene at 7 p.m.

The evening session will begin with discussion of the department’s Quail Initiative, followed by a public hearing on fall turkey, antelope, elk and deer season bag limits and permits.

After the hearing, the commission will hear a report on the Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge.
