KU summer program looking for workers

A Kansas University summer program is seeking students to work toward making healthier Kansas communities.

The Kansas Community Leadership Corps provides a $2,000 stipend to up to 10 students to assistant local community programs. Past participants have worked on such projects as substance abuse, adolescent pregnancy and HIV awareness.

The program is open to KU undergraduate students and high school seniors who live within a 45-mile radius of Lawrence. Applications are due April 30.

Religious studies expert to talk on legal system

Topeka  Jonathan Z. Smith will present the lecture “God Save This Honorable Court: Religion in Public Discourse” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Washburn University Memorial Union, 17th and Jewell streets.

Smith is a religious studies expert and has taught at the University of Chicago since 1968. He has written several books and articles on religion.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

KU announces lineup for Day on the Hill

Kansas University’s Student Union Activities has announced the lineup for this year’s Day on the Hill concert.

The free event will be from noon to 6 p.m. April 27 on the west side of Campanile Hill.

Bands include The Anniversary, Emilia Dahlin, Hot Sauce, No Lessons and The King James Version.
