Trinity Episcopal installs Altar Guild

The search committee at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., will share information about the search for a new rector during the Adult Forum at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the nave.

Altar Guild members will be commissioned in the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service and honored with a reception after the service.

Deacon Deborah Burns will begin a series on grieving at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The “Good Grief Group” will meet weekly for six weeks.

The Kansas City Chapter of the Church and Synagogue Library Assn. will meet from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 13 at the church.

The morning session will feature Lawrence historian Katie Armitage, who will portray Julia Lovejoy, the wife of the first Methodist minister in Lawrence. The afternoon session is titled “What’s a Christian to Do With Harry Potter?”

Unity welcomes guest speaker

The Rev. Robert Brumet will be the guest speaker at the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Unity Church, 416 Lincoln.

Brumet’s newest book, “The Quest for Wholeness,” was recently published.

Free Methodist offers luncheon

The youth group at Lawrence Free Methodist Church, 3001 Lawrence Ave., will travel this afternoon to Kansas City for ice skating, bowling, shopping and a visit to IMPACT at YouthFront. The group is for seventh- through 12th-grade students. For more information, call 842-2343.

The Connection Ministry will serve a 20s Connection Luncheon after the 11:15 a.m. Sunday contemporary service. The luncheon is designed for college students and singles in their 20s.

The 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday services will include information from a Gideons International representative.

Veritas offers kindergarten round-up

Veritas Christian School, 256 N. Mich., plans its spring kindergarten round-up from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

Parents and children are invited to experience an hourlong sample of a day of kindergarten at Veritas.

AIDS quilt, session planned at church

First Regular Missionary Baptist Church, 1646 Vt., will unveil the “From Complacency to Compassion” Cape Town, South Africa, AIDS memorial quilt from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

The church’s youth council is sponsoring a session on HIV and AIDS awareness from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Lawrence Christian Center, 1031 N.H., will sponsor an evangelism and drama workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, with a free lunch at noon.

Unitarian program features musician

Clarinetist Gorgias Sanchez will perform chamber music during the program from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Lawrence Unitarian Fellowship, 1263 N. 1100 Road.

Calvary Temple sets fund-raising meal

The Women’s Ministries will sponsor a soup, sandwich, salad and dessert meal at 6 p.m. Monday at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th Terrace. The meal is a fund-raiser for mission work.

Rich and Jan Cunningham, missionaries from Romania, will speak about their efforts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mustard Seed plans guest speaker

Wayne Anderson will be the guest speaker during the 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday services at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive.

Anderson will also be available at 7 tonight for a “get acquainted” session at the church.

The International students will have a luncheon at noon Sunday at 315 Dakota.

The Simply Single group for singles age 26 and older will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. An organizational meeting for “In His Presence” service is also at 7 p.m. Friday.

Children’s program starts at church

Kid’s Express, a new children’s program, will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, 3200 Clinton Parkway. The program is offered for children ages 3 to 12.

Travis and Melissa Dumond of the Kansas Youth Alive Ministry will be guests for the 6:30 p.m. Sunday service.

St. John’s resumes youth classes

Religious education classes for children and teens at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky., will resume Sunday. The adult education class will resume April 14 with a session sponsored by the Always Our Children support group.

The final “Tuesdays with Mike” session will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the parish hall.

The 5:30 p.m. April 13 anticipated liturgy is canceled. Instead, liturgies for the celebration of First Eucharist will be offered at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 13.

Overbrook Methodist plans fund-raising meal

Overbrook  Overbrook Methodist Church will serve a “Poor Man’s Meal” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 13 at the church.

The fund-raising meal will feature ham, beans and hot dogs. A free-will offering will be collected. A basket auction will follow the meal.
