By plane, by car and by train

Kansas delegates to the Democratic National Convention came by plane and by car – and at least one, state Sen. Marci Francisco, D-Lawrence, caught Amtrak. She said the trip took about eight hours.The Kansas delegation is staying in the Doubletree Hotel in Greenwood Village, fairly far from the action downtown, but convenient to Denver’s light rail system. The round-trip fare to downtown is $6, and a one-way trip takes a good 20 minutes. The North Carolina delegation has also set up shop in the Doubletree. The two groups had a mixer Sunday night.The Kansas delegation today will hear from Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer and Anna Berger, of Service Employees International Union during breakfast.On Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson will talk, and then on Wednesday, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano will speak. Sebelius will be introduced by Attorney General Steve Six of Lawrence. On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Lenexa, will speak to the delegation.
