As the Kansas football team puts the finishing touches on its 2025 recruiting class, it has begun to establish a foothold in 2026.

With quarterback Jaylen Mason from Wichita Northwest already in the fold, the Jayhawks got their second 2026 commitment in Lennie “Trey” Brown, a three-star prospect from Tustin High School in Tustin, California who announced his decision on Thursday evening.

Brown, a 6-foot, 165-pound cornerback, had offers from Florida, Penn State and Tennessee, as well as Big 12 programs like Arizona State and BYU. He pledged to KU soon after visiting GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium for the Jayhawks’ victory over Colorado, writing in his commitment announcement on social media, “The moment I visited Kansas, I felt the energy, the family atmosphere, and the passion the program has for developing its players both on and off the field. The coaches believe in my potential, and I’m ready to work hard and represent the Jayhawk Nation with pride.”

Brown told Jon Kirby of JayhawkSlant.com that co-defensive coordinator D.K. McDonald and analyst Brandon Shelby helped make him feel at home.

“They’re recruiting me as a corner/nickel, and they liked that my technique was advanced, and my eyes were good,” he told Kirby.

By the time Brown arrives on campus, the KU secondary will look vastly different. Beyond 2025, players who will still have eligibility include Austin Alexander, Jameel Croft Jr., Jacoby Davis, Brian Dilworth, Aundre Gibson and Jalen Todd, along with incoming 2025 freshman Chris McCorkle.

The Jayhawks currently have an offer out to Brown transfer corner Isaiah Reed as well.
