Former KU golfer Sutton in contention at Korn Ferry Tour tourney

Former University of Kansas golfer Daniel Sutton shot a 4-under 68 and remained in contention at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship on Saturday in Springfield, Mo.

Sutton, a native of Birmingham, England, who played his final two seasons of college golf at KU, enters today’s final round tied for second at -15, three strokes behind leader Brandon Wu.

Sutton carded five birdies and one bogey in the third round, with three of the five birdies coming in his final six holes.

Fellow former Jayhawk and Lawrence resident Chris Thompson shot a 2-over 74 on Saturday and sits at -3 for the tournament heading into the final round.

Thompson was even after nine holes and moved to 1-under for the day with a birdie on his 10th hole. But two holes later, a bogey followed by a double bogey pushed Thompson to 2-over for the round.

He parred in from there and will need to shoot his best round of the tournament today to contend for automatic inclusion in next week’s event.
