Kansas softball handed 10-2 defeat by No. 12 Texas Tech

In game two of the three game series with No. 12 Texas Tech, the Kansas softball team dropped the five-inning contest by a 10-2 margin at Rocky Johnson Field.

The Red Raiders jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning off Lexy Mills. The Kansas starter was relieved by Kirsten Pruett, who pitched the next 2 1/3 innings while allowing four earned runs.

Kansas (15-28, 3-8) responded in the second inning, scoring two runs of its own off a Miranda Rodriguez single. KU had the bases loaded with one out, but was unable to produce any runs after the initial two.

After a delay, Texas Tech added two runs in the bottom of the second before the Jayhawks were able to record the last out of the inning. TTU added another two runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth, which ended the game on a hard hit ball in the infield.

The series finale is slated for 11 a.m. Saturday.
