Letter to the editor: GOP is gone

To the editor:

In 2020 I looked at the ballot and did not see a candidate I could vote for. That is because there was no candidate who had a Republican vision of what we are about as a nation, and I am feeling alone. We are looking at a recovery plan in excess of $2.3 trillion. I remember budgets in terms of mega bucks, and the giga bucks were a shock I have not gotten over. And now people are talking about trillion as casually as I handled going from a quarter a week up to a half dollar, when I entered second grade and had to cover milk at 10 cents a day.

The questions are how we are going to afford this — or are we going to be in deeper debt to foreign powers which hold that debt. Or, since President Joe Biden named Janet Yellen to Treasury, does the administration plan to print money like the Weimar Republic did in the 1920s, leading to takeover by the National Socialists?

Where are the Republicans, and where have they been over the last couple decades as our republic has been sliding into financial and political bankruptcy.
