Letter to the editor: Making voting accessible to all

To the editor:

It’s very important for all of us to vote in every election, if we can. It doesn’t matter what your political views are. I’ve always believed this to be true, to support the significant governmental processes of our country at all levels. This is true for all elections, not just for presidents, Congress or state legislatures, but also for our local city and school officials, as will occur early next month. I’m elderly now and have not been able to vote in person in recent elections.

I applaud Jamie Shew, the county clerk and election officer, and his employees in the way they have made voting much more accessible for everyone  here,  particularly for those of us not able to vote in person. What they do is extremely important for Lawrence and Douglas County.

Steve Ferrier,

Lawrence
