Letter to the editor: Caring touch

To the editor:

After weeks of despair from tapping into various county, hospital and pharmacy websites to get an appointment for a COVID-vaccine shot, I finally received an email from Sigler Pharmacy that a clinic was going to be held. Within seconds I hustled to the online portal and got the usual no-go-all-slots-filled deflating scenario. I decided to email Sigler Pharmacy that if anything came in I would like a spot and was overwhelmed to get a personal reply back from Melissa Sigler that doses came in sporadically to the pharmacy and in unknown quantities. However, within an hour, Melissa emailed me back that they had received more doses and I was able to secure an appointment on the portal. Two days later I was in line for a shot at my scheduled time at Theatre Lawrence that was made streamline efficient by volunteers and staff. I left with a second dose reminder card in hand.

Sigler Pharmacy went above and beyond and even sent an appointment email and text reminders on the day of my appointment. I had also assisted some of my nontech neighbors in securing appointments that day and since then our over-65-plus souls have spirits that have been greatly lifted thanks to a local pharmacy who took the time to offer that personal touch and care.

Lawrence
