Letter to the editor: Excluding citizens

To the editor:

Our three legislators all voted yes on coronavirus relief that specifically excludes over 1 million U.S. citizens from receiving stimulus checks. These often otherwise fully eligible citizens will not receive stimulus checks, simply because they file jointly with a spouse who has a Tax Identification Number instead of a Social Security Number. Sen. Jerry Moran, Sen. Pat Roberts and Rep. Steve Watkins abdicated their legislative responsibility to support their constituents in need. Last I checked, who you marry should not justify leaving citizens behind in the time of crisis. All of our American brothers and sisters deserve the chance for aid if they need it. Our legislators have left some of us behind with their votes. We owe it to our fellow Americans to hold our officials accountable and implore that Moran, Roberts and Watkins support legislation that does not exclude citizens in need.
