Letter to the editor: Shelter in a storm

To the editor:

On Tuesday when the tornado sirens went off, we happened to be early dining at the Black Stag Brewery with a group of neighbors. The servers came by to tell us to grab our beers and belongings and follow them to the well fortified but unfinished basement. I asked them not to lock the doors because our son was coming from his office at Seventh and Massachusetts to shelter. Along with our son several other people on the street found shelter at Black Stag Brewery. The staff brought down chairs, games, snacks and took orders for drinks all while keeping us updated on what was happening outside. With the WiFi password we were able to communicate with our family to tell them where we were. We were safe and well cared for.
