A 33-year-old De Soto man was arrested Thursday in Lawrence on suspicion of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy, Douglas County Jail records show.

The man was arrested on a probable cause warrant at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, according to the booking log. The complaint filed in his case alleges that between August 2010 and May 2011, when the man was 23, he engaged in lewd fondling or touching of a child who was 5 years old at the time. It also alleges that in the same timeframe, the man raped and engaged in sodomy with a child who was 2 years old at the time.

All three charges are off-grid felonies, meaning that if the man were to be convicted, he could face multiple life sentences.

The man was being held in custody on a $100,000 cash or surety bond Thursday night, according to the booking log. It was unclear from online court records when the man would be formally charged at a first appearance.
