Following a similar effort last weekend, the Lawrence Police Department is planning another DUI enforcement campaign this weekend — on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day.

Police will conduct a DUI saturation patrol Saturday, placing extra officers in the field to look specifically for drivers who show signs of impairment or other traffic violations, the department announced Wednesday. The effort will take place throughout the Lawrence city limits.

“The Lawrence Police Department urges you to designate a sober driver and reminds you to buckle up, every trip, every time,” the news release said.

According to the release, the effort is funded through a Kansas Department of Transportation grant.
