Lawrence man injured in car accident outside Wichita that killed Dodge City man

A 28-year-old Lawrence man was reportedly involved in a three-vehicle accident Saturday near Kingman that killed a Dodge City man.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol online report, the accident remains under investigation and a narrative describing the accident has not been released.

The Highway Patrol report states that the accident occurred at 2:36 p.m. Saturday, about 3 miles west of Kingman on U.S. Highway 54. The area is roughly 45 miles west of Wichita.

Killed as a result of the crash was 63-year-old Magaly Garcia-Jimenez, of Dodge City. According to the report, Garcia-Jimenez was a passenger in a 2007 Toyota Corolla. He was taken to Kingman County Hospital with fatal injuries. It is unclear from the report whether he died at the scene of the accident or at the hospital.

The Corolla’s driver, Juan Hondal-Massip, 66, of Dodge City, was taken to the hospital with suspected serious injuries. One passenger in the car, 60-year-old Elizabeth Craballo, of Dodge City, was also transported to the hospital, with suspected serious injuries; another, Maikel Hernandez-Morea, 39, of Dodge City, was also taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuries.

According to the Highway Patrol, Grant Homes, 28, of Lawrence, was the driver of a 2018 Kia PC involved in the accident. He was taken to Kingman County Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

The driver of a 2015 Ford pickup involved in the accident, Michael Wordily, 36, of Kansas City. Mo., was reported to have no apparent injuries. Two of his passengers, 52-year-old Raymond Munoz, of Syracuse, and an 11-year-old girl, were reported to have suspected minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital. A third passenger, a 13-year-old girl, had no apparent injury.

The report says Garcia-Jimenez and Hernandez-Morea were not wearing seat belts.
