A Nebraska professor who leads multiple research programs funded by the National Institutes for Health is the third publicly-announced candidate for the dean position at the University of Kansas’ pharmacy school.
Aaron Mohs is a professor of pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy, in addition to serving as the associated dean for research and graduate studies.
At the Nebraska school leads a collaboration of NIH-funded research programs on the development of fluorescent probes to guide the surgical resection of tumors, fluorescent sensor array technology that can rapidly detect and identify bacterial pathogens, and drug delivery systems to target multiple myeloma.
Mohs will provide a public presentation about vision or the KU pharmacy school at 4 p.m. on Feb. 27 in Room 1020 of the School of Pharmacy building. Mohs is the third finalist announced for the position.
Theresa Shireman, a health care researcher at Brown University, has already been announced as a finalist, as has David Dietz, a professor and department chair at the University at Buffalo. A fourth finalist is expected to be named in the coming days.
The dean position is open after past pharmacy dean Ron Ragan resigned in May. Ragan stepped down from the leadership position to return to his appointment as a tenured professor within KU’s School of Pharmacy.
