Author of ‘How to Be An Antiracist’ rescheduled to speak at Lied Center in October

Author, professor and antiracist activist Ibram X. Kendi will speak at the Lied Center this fall at the University of Kansas.

Kendi’s presentation, rescheduled from March 2020, will be titled “How To Be An Antiracist: A conversation with Ibram X. Kendi.” It’s scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7. His talk is free and open to the public, but tickets are required and will be available in September.

Kendi is the Self Graduate Fellowship Symposium’s featured speaker for fall 2021. Joining him on stage will be KU film professor and filmmaker Kevin Willmott.

In addition to the lecture, the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging and the Office of Multicultural Affairs will be hosting related events to provide the campus with ongoing conversation around Kendi’s work.

Kendi is a New York Times bestselling author, professor of history and international relations, and the founding director of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research. He is the author of “Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America,” which won the 2016 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
