Lawrence school district, KU cancel classes for Thursday, Feb. 17; list of other weather-related cancellations
• City of Lawrence offices closed at noon Thursday. Customer service teams, including Utility Billing and Solid Waste, will be unavailable the remainder of the day.
Due to the winter weather, all City offices will close at noon today, February 17. Our City customer service teams, including Utility Billing and Solid Waste, will be unavailable the remainder of the day.
• Lawrence Public Schools USD 497 has canceled all classes.
• The University of Kansas Lawrence and Edwards campuses have canceled all classes.
• The City of Lawrence has suspended all residential and commercial solid waste collection services. Crews were able to complete a small section of Thursday routes, but the majority of routes will be postponed until Friday.
Solid Waste collection services for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day with Thursday routes to be completed on Friday and Friday routes to be completed on Saturday.
• Eudora Public Schools USD 491 has canceled all classes.
• Baldwin Public Schools USD 348 has canceled all classes. Parent-teacher conferences scheduled for Thursday also have been canceled.
• Perry-Lecompton Public Schools USD 343 has canceled all classes.
• Bishop Seabury Academy has canceled all classes.
• Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has canceled all programming for Thursday and will not open facilities.
• Raintree Montessori School will be closed.
• Oskaloosa Schools USD #341 will be closed.
• All state office buildings in Shawnee County will be closed by order of the governor. Employees who can work remotely are directed to do so.
• Senior Resource Center for Douglas County and all services, including Senior Wheels will be closed.
• Lawrence Arts Center is cancelling all classes that were scheduled to start before 5 p.m.. It will make an announcement on Thursday evening classes before 2 p.m. on Thursday.
• The Kansas Judicial Center in Topeka, home to the Kansas Supreme Court and other judicial branch functions, will be closed. Court staff will work remotely to maintain operations, including receiving and processing electronically filed court documents. All activities affected by this change will be rescheduled, including meetings. Participants will be notified of new times and dates.
• St. John Catholic School will be closed.
• Heartland Community Health Center and Heartland @ Panda Pediatrics will be closed.
• Veritas Christian School will be closed.
• Lawrence Public Library will be closed.
