The health department’s drive-thru clinic at LMH Health is changing its hours next week and, starting June 1, appointments will be shifted to the Community Health Facility, according to a press release from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health.

Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health announced the changes Thursday afternoon, noting that the shift away from LMH Health was due to a decrease in sign-ups for COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

Starting next week, the health department will offer the COVID-19 vaccine to anyone 12 and older at LMH Health’s drive-thru clinic from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, May 24, through Thursday, May 27. On Friday, May 28, there will be appointments available from 9 a.m. to noon.

Future appointments will then be held at the Community Health Facility, 200 Maine St., beginning on June 1. Registration codes for appointments will still be posted online at LDCHealth.org/COVIDVaccine and Douglascountyks.org/Coronavirus.

“We appreciate the partnership and support of LMH Health as the site has helped make for a smooth transition from the mass vaccination clinics at the Douglas County Fairgrounds and as we have started vaccinations for those ages 12-15 last week,” Charlie Bryan, chair of the Vaccination Planning Unit under Douglas County’s Unified Command, said in a release. “As we have seen the number of vaccination appointments continue to pare down and we have focused on clinics at smaller sites around the county to improve access, we will shift to future appointments at the health department in June.”

COVID-19 vaccines are also available throughout the community at pharmacies such as Jayhawk Pharmacy, AuBurn Pharmacies in Baldwin City and Eudora, CVS, Dillons, Hy-Vee, Medical Arts Pharmacy, Orchards Drug, Sigler Pharmacy, Walgreens and Walmart.
