Douglas County reports 74 new COVID-19 cases since Friday; 890 remain active

Douglas County reported 7,892 cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, an increase of 74 cases since Friday.
In Douglas County, 7,002 out of the 7,892 cases are inactive or beyond the infectious period, according to Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health, meaning 890 cases are active.
The county has averaged about 37 new cases per day over the last 14 days, according to a 14-day moving average graph updated weekdays by the health department. The current average of 37.29 new cases per day is down from a high of 80 cases per day in mid-November and up from a recent low of about 45 cases per day in mid-December.
Douglas County has a 14-day COVID-19 incidence rate of 433.95 per 100,000 people and a test positivity rate of 2.5%. Test positivity rates are 5.9% in Eudora, 4.9% in Lecompton, 4.3% in Baldwin City and 2.2% in Lawrence.
Fifteen patients at Lawrence’s hospital had COVID-19 on Monday, three more than Friday. To date, 36 Douglas County residents have died of COVID-19.
