The Lawrence Busker Festival, originally scheduled for Memorial Day weekend and then rescheduled to Labor Day weekend, has now been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Monday message on the Lawrence Busker Festival’s Facebook page said that despite big plans for this year — the event was to be extended to four days from three – “the pandemic occurred and our concerns turned to staying healthy first.”

“It is in that light that we are cancelling this year’s Lawrence Busker Festival,” the post stated. “Rest assured, we will be back when it’s safe and we will party with you then!”

Festival organizer Richard Renner was not immediately available for comment Tuesday afternoon.
