Parks and Recreation activities scheduled to begin in January will not take place in an effort to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The city announced in a news release that the Parks and Rec department will not hold any programs or activities in January and possibly the entire winter season, which goes to the end of March. The change includes all activities that require enrollment.

Scheduled fall programming will continue through the end of the year with the exception of youth indoor sports and group gymnastics, which are being canceled based on public health orders and gathering limits.

All Parks and Rec facilities will remain open with limited hours for individual use of weight and cardio equipment. Masks will continue to be required for everyone at all times in any parks and recreation facility.

The continuation of youth and adult sports will be evaluated again after Jan. 1.
