In this file photo from Jan. 18, 2016, a Lawrence Transit System bus stops just south of Seventh and Vermont streets.

The City of Lawrence’s transit service will operate free of charge for election day.

The city said in a news release that Lawrence Transit is offering free rides to customers on Tuesday, Nov. 2, to encourage all residents to get out and vote. All fixed-route and paratransit buses will be free all day.

Lawrence residents will vote for Lawrence City Commission and Lawrence school board positions. Voters can verify their polling place on the Douglas County elections website, douglascountyks.org/depts/voting-and-elections/where-to-vote.
