The Kansas women’s basketball season ended Friday night in Oklahoma City with a 72-63 loss to Kansas State in the first round of the Big 12 tournament.

K-State outscored KU 11-2 at the end of the game to score its third victory of the season and second in six days against its in-state rival.

It capped a strong finish to the season for Johnson, who scored a career-high 15 points in Manhattan last Saturday and matched it Tuesday in a loss at Iowa State.

Lyons, who earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention, gave KU (12-18) a 56-48 lead with 8:16 left on a 3-pointer. K-State (16-14) took control from there, scoring 24 points to KU’s seven the rest of the way.
