Kansas University Cancer Center receives $2.5 million contribution

The Kansas University Hospital Authority Board announced it will contribute a total of $2.5 million to support research at the KU Cancer Center.

The contributions come at a time when the Cancer Center is preparing to seek a Comprehensive National Cancer Institute designation status in the next two years, according to a news release. Comprehensive status is the highest level of NCI designation, the release said.

Part of the contribution, $1 million, will support cancer clinical research, with another $1 million allotted to support the Cancer Partners Advisory Board. The rest, $500,000, will support cancer clinical trials.
