Free State High’s girls basketball team continued its rise through the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association’s weekly rankings, jumping to No. 5 in Class 6A in the latest poll released Monday.

The Firebirds (7-0) will go on the road to face Leavenworth (6-1, ranked No. 3 in 5A) at 5:30 tonight.

Lawrence High’s boys basketball team (8-0) dropped for the first time to No. 2 in the rankings in 6A, while Bishop Seabury’s boys are No. 6 in 2A, Eudora is No. 7 in 4A-I and Ottawa is No. 10 in 4A-I.

Baldwin’s girls basketball team is No. 2 in 4A-II, and Ottawa is No. 9 in 4A-I.
