KU School of Music to host Jazz Festival this week

The Kansas University School of Music will host the 38th Annual Jazz Festival concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Kansas Union’s Woodruff Auditorium.

The concerts will feature special guest artists saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi with the KU Jazz Festival All-Star Band on Friday and trombone player Marshall Gilkes with KU Jazz Ensemble I on Saturday.

Tickets for each concert are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $10 with a KUID. They can be purchased at KU’s Student Union Activities office in the Kansas Union or by calling 864-7469.

After the main-stage concerts at Woodruff Auditorium, the Matt Otto Quartet and special guests will perform in the KU Jazz Festival After Hours Sessions at the All Seasons Den at The Oread hotel, 1200 Oread Ave., from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. both nights.

Admission to these sessions is free.
