KU students to debut original plays this weekend

Plays written by Kansas University undergraduate students will debut this weekend in the fifth Black Box Productions at the University Theatre.

Black Box gives select students the opportunity to direct, cast, rehearse and perform original work. This year’s productions include “How to Survive College and Other Painful Acts,” a coming-of-age comedy by Dodge City sophomore Cale Morrow, and “Spilled Time: A Comedy” by Olathe senior Thomas Tong, set in a spy world where one man plots to use the power of time for his own personal gain.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13, 14, 17, 18 and 19, and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at the William Inge Memorial Theatre in KU’s Murphy Hall.

Tickets can be purchased at the KU ticket offices, online at www.kutheatre.com, or by calling University Theatre at 864-3982 or the Lied Center at 864-2787.

Tickets cost $10 for adults (including seniors and KU faculty/staff) and $5 for children. Student tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door.
