To the editor:

Here are my thoughts on a new police facility that’s very much needed and which I do 100 percent support. I believe we should build a facility at the Lawrence airport for the police with an additional amount of money for a smaller fire station housing one pumper truck, one medic unit and one rescue truck and storage space.

This allows better response time for the north Lawrence area including Grant Township and covers the Kansas Turnpike to the east to the Leavenworth County line and to the west to the Shawnee County line with assistance from fire stations No. 1 and 3. After all there’s not much choice of land available and it would make good use of the airport site and save money for land purchase.
