Kansas University Theatre will stage “Tovarich,” a riches-to-rags story set in the turbulent period after the Russian Revolution, beginning Friday evening at Murphy Hall’s Crafton-Preyer Theatre.

“Tovarich” tells the story of a Russian grand duchess and her prince husband who, after fleeing from the Bolsheviks, are forced to take jobs as a housemaid and butler at the home of wealthy banker in Paris. This improbable tale results in a farcical comedy of manners, disguise and revelation.

Performances are set for Oct. 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 at the Crafton-Preyer Theatre, 1530 Naismith Drive. All are at 7:30 p.m., except for the Oct. 19 and 26 performances, which will be at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $18 for adults, $17 for seniors and KU faculty and staff, and $10 for children. Student tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
