FSHS runners win at Haskell

Free State High’s boys and girls cross country teams claimed victories Saturday at the Haskell Invitational.

The FSHS boys totaled 33 points to win the seven-team event, while second-place Olathe East had 42. The Firebirds had 27 points to win the four-school girls event. Olathe East was second with 35.

Free State’s Ryan Liston won the boys individual title. Liston completed the 5K course in 16:33.71. Teammates Tanner Hockenbury, Thomas Becker and Ethan Donley placed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

The Firebirds’ Emily Venters won the girls race. She ran the 4K course in 14:35.86. Claire Sanner finished third, Kiran Cordes fourth and Liv Lyche seventh.
