Olathe ? Free State High’s Emily Bermel placed third at the Olathe East Invitational on Wednesday.

Even better, that finish helped her place second in the Sunflower League championship.

Bermel shot 83 at St. Andrews Golf Course (par 71) to tie Shawnee Mission East’s Haley Bell for first. Bermel took third outright after a scorecard playoff.

The meet served as the third and final round of the league championship.

Bermel shot 255 at league to place second behind SM East’s Jessica Parker (246).

SM East won the team title (336) and the league team crown (1,034). Free State was runner-up at O-East (380) and third in league (1,183).

Free State’s other scores Wednesday: Karen Campbell, eighth, 88 (and 14th at league at 297); Anne Goebel, 26th, 103 (29th, 324); Eric Meyers, tied for 30th, 106 (22nd, 315); Sydney Buller, tied for 40th, 112 (31st, 338); and Savannah Reeb, 42nd, 113 (30th, 332).
