Free State soccer tops Shawnee Heights

? Free State High’s boys soccer team went on the road and beat Shawnee Heights, 3-1, on Monday night.

Senior Daniel Clarke scored twice in the second half, assisted by junior Ernesto Hodison and senior Carson Gilliland.

After trailing by a goal early, junior Eduardo Carballido scored the equalizer in the first half, assisted by junior Isreal Lumpkins.

“I think we started really slowly,” FSHS coach Kelly Barah said. “We had to adjust and do some things differently, try to connect on our passes. Once we did, then we got control of the game again like we wanted to.”

The Firebirds (6-3-1) will host Shawnee Mission South at 6:30 tonight.
