Mental health in Lawrence to be discussed at public meeting
Mental health in Lawrence will be the topic of discussion at a Lawrence-Douglas County League of Women Voters meeting later this week. All are welcome to attend.
Joe Douglas, a psychiatrist at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, will give a presentation called “Mental Health Matters: Are We Doing Enough?” at noon Thursday at the Watkins Museum of History, 1047 Massachusetts St. Drawing from his nearly half-century of experience, Douglas will discuss providing mental health care with compassion and the need for increased funding for mental health.
The League of Women Voters will first meet at 11:30 a.m. to eat, socialize and discuss its local health positions.
