Benefit for Lecompton woman with breast cancer rescheduled

A benefit for Roxanne Laughlin, a Lecompton grocery store cashier recently diagnosed with breast cancer, has been rescheduled. The event will now be held Nov. 2.

Laughlin, whose story was featured in the Journal-World’s pink breast-cancer issue Oct. 8, has started undergoing chemotherapy for the cancer, which was discovered this summer.

The benefit, organized by Laughlin’s former colleagues from the Perry-Lecompton school district, will be from 6-10 p.m. at American Legion Post 142 in Perry. The evening will feature bingo, refreshments and raffles.

Donations will go toward Laughlin’s medical expenses. Contributions can also be made to the Roxanne Laughlin Fund at First State Bank & Trust in Perry.
