Baker invites residents, students to sing in community choir

Baker University students and Baldwin City and area residents interested in singing are welcome to participate in the Baker University Community Choir.

The choir begins its spring season rehearsals at 6 p.m. Thursday at McKibbin Recital Hall on Baker’s Baldwin City campus.

Beginning this semester, the fee for all nonstudent participants is $20 per person, with proceeds benefitting the Baker choirs. But participants who are unable to pay may still join the choir.

Matthew Potterton, director of choral activities at Baker, leads the choir, which will perform various selections from sacred to secular and from Renaissance to American folk styles. Evening concerts are scheduled for April 16 and May 3 in Baldwin City. Professional jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany, a 1981 Baker graduate, will be a guest artist at the May concert.
