Lawrence public schools, United Way program in running for Kansas Leadership Center award

Lawrence Public Schools and the United Way have teamed up to become one of seven finalists for the Kansas Leadership Center’s Academy for Team Leadership program, which offers the winning organization up to $1 million in leadership training.

The two organizations from Lawrence seek to increase the local high school graduation rate.

The six other finalists include the Kansas State Department of Education and the Kansas Association of School Boards, Unified School Districts 259 and 260 in Wichita and Derby, Kansas Action for Children, Thrive Allen County, Dodge City Community College and Visioneering Wichita Health Alliance.

The winner will be announced in mid-February.
