Helen Fridblom

Helen M. (Stringham) Fridblom, age 93 of Lawrence Kansas, died on December 29, 2020, succumbing to complications from Covid 19. A memorial service is set for 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2021, at Worden Cornerstone Church, 298 E. 900th Road, Baldwin City, KS 66066, with a visitation and dinner immediately following also at the church.

Raised in Lawrence Helen Stringham graduated from University of Kansas in 1950, and married Arthur Fridblom that same year. They moved to Kansas City Kansas where Helen brought up her four children. Being active in the PTA, ultimately becoming the Kansas State PTA President. Working later as a ‘Lay Reader’ for the KCK Public Schools grading English papers.

She worked tirelessly on the genealogy of both her parents and husbands' parents' lineage, long before the internet craze. Writing volumes on each lineage while annotating and documenting each reference. All her writings are still held as a family treasure. Helen also loved arts and crafts, many of her drawings, paintings, pottery, and jewelry, have been passed down as family treasures. Her favorite hobby was to make porcelain dolls, from molding the original cast, creating, and firing the greenware, to sewing the period appropriate clothing for each doll.

After retiring Helen returned to Lawrence where she grew up, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Stringham and RP Stringham, husband of 55 years, Arthur Erick Fridblom, her brother, Howard Stringham, and sister Dorothy Ferguson. She is survived by her children Barbara Miller of Lawrence, Kansas, Karen Barnes, of Rahway, New Jersey, Eugene Fridblom, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Grace Vaughn of Baldwin City, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren across the United States
