Alice Randel

Alice Ann Randel, 82, of Baldwin City, KS died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at her home.

She was born November 8, 1937 in Clifton, KS the daughter of Abraham Charbonneau and Wilma (Peterson) Charbonneau. She moved in her youth, with her family, to Baldwin City, KS. She graduated from Baldwin High School with the class of 1956.

Alice was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Baldwin City and Lawrence Kansas for nearly 42 years. Having a smile that could light up a city, Alice loved her work and interacting with others who grew up in Kansas and from around the world. Alice dedicated her life to the service of others and was an active member in the community. She was always actively helping others in their time of need. She was compassionate with a very kind and generous heart, always rooting for the underdog to beat the odds. Starting each of her mornings with a hot cup of coffee, reading several newspapers, she loved cooking for her family and spending quality time with them. She loved music and singing, and road trips traveling to see her children and their families, even when they were out of the country.

Alice was a member of the Baldwin City Church of Christ, a member of the Post #228 American Legion Auxiliary, Palmyra Township Board, National Association of Letter Carriers, and the Baldwin City Red Hat Society. She also spent many years volunteering for the Kansas America Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program in Lawrence, KS.

On April 7, 1957 Alice was united in marriage to Montie Duane Randel in Baldwin City, KS. They shared sixty-two years of marriage until Montie passed away March 17, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Loretta Lynn Porter; and a brother, Larry Charbonneau.

She is survived by three sons, Earl Duane Randel, Lewisville, TX., Dany Jay Randel, Basehor, KS, and Johnny Dale Randel, Encinitas, CA; one daughter, Gwendolyn Ann Collins, Baldwin City, KS; a brother, Wilbur Charbonneau, El Dorado, MO; two sisters, Lorena Jean Kraft, Desoto, KS, Loretta May Gantenbien, Eudora, KS; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin City, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Baldwin City Church of Christ at 203 10th Street, Baldwin City, KS 66006. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
