Melba Conner

Graveside services for Melba L. Conner, 88, Eudora, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 14 2019, at Reno Cemetery in Reno, KS. Melba passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

Melba was born June 30, 1930, in Foster, MO, the youngest of nine to Alan and Flossie Belle (Hagard) Moody.

Melba always wanted to be a teacher, so she went to Pittsburg State Teacher’s College and taught for one year at a rural grade school and later quit to marry Marvin Conner who was a heavy construction welder.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Melba will be remembered for her delicious baking skills, especially her wedding cakes and pies. She was also a good seamstress, not only sewing for herself but for family and friends.

She married Marvin Dean Conner August 27, 1949 in Cherokee, KS. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2006.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey R. and wife, Victoria Conner, Lenexa, KS; daughter-in-law, Diane Conner of Leawood, KS; two grandsons, Stephen Briar and wife, Janell Conner and Clay Conner; great-

granddaughter, Selene Conner; and Melba’s companion, Merle Morris. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dr. Richard D. Conner in 2011; grandson, Ryan Conner; her three brothers, Clifford, Lyle, Roy; and five sisters, Bernice Tickle, Garnett Phalen, Darlene Phalen, Pauline Scott and Rose Mary Schanze

The family will greet friends from 2 – 3 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made in Melba’s name to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
