Randall Lewis

Randall W. (Randy) Lewis, born November 27, 1947, died at home September 5, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Randy grew up in Lawrence, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1965. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1970. After graduation, he worked for the Kansas Highway Commission. In 1975 he began his 40-year career with Kansas Farm Bureau. He retired in 2015.

A true "Mr. fix-it" and "lake rat", he liked playing golf, trips to the beach, vacations with his family, occasional trips to the casino and seldom missed a Lawrence High boy’s basketball game.

He was a loyal friend and devoted to his family, especially "The lights of my life", his six grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, Sue, daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Steve King of Nixa, Missouri, son Mike and daughter-in-law Kristel of Lawrence, Kansas, sister Karen and her husband Dick Lind of Lawrence, and the lifetime friends of the Saturday morning breakfast crew. And, as he often said, "the best part of my life", his grandkids Katie, Kevin and Kyle King of Nixa, Missouri and Macade, Luke and Kate Lewis of Lawrence.

Memorial services for Randy will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. He passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his home.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Randy’s name to the American Diabetes Association, Lawrence High boy’s basketball program, or Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of Warren McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
