Lane Collins

Lane Collins, age 82, of Baldwin City, passed away July 31, 2013, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born February 18, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Thomas Irvin Collin and Marcia Hull (Lane) Collins.
He grew up in Harrisonville, Missouri graduating from Harrisonville High School. After graduating his family moved to Baldwin City so he and his siblings could attend college. He attended Baker University that fall. Lane then entered the military serving his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955during the Korean War.
After his military career he moved back to Baldwin City. He always had more than one job, a product of growing up in the Depression. His main occupation was owner of Lane’s Plumbing for many years in Baldwin City, retiring in 1996.
On December 19, 1951, Lane was united in marriage with Madalyn Moore at the First United Methodist Church in Baldwin City. They shared fifty two years of loving marriage together until the death of Madalyn on July 13, 2003.
He is also preceded in death by his parents and one brother Barry Clay.
Lane is survived by five children, Jerry Collins and his wife, Brenda, of Baldwin City, Marla Webster of Lawrence, Candi Stout and her husband, Dale, of Baldwin City, Lori Collins of Baldwin City, Sherry Stout of Winnetka, California, six grandchildren; Matt Webster of Lawrence, Jake Webster of Lawrence, Mike Webster of Lawrence, Greg Collins of Baldwin City, Randi Stout of Manhattan, Deni Barnes of Lawrence; five great grandchildren Jeremy Collins of Baldwin City, Levi Collins of Baldwin City, Zoe Collins of Baldwin City, Caitlynn Webster of Lawrence, Fisher Webster of Lawrence; one sister, Charlotte Beye of Topeka; and one brother, Marvin Collins of Lawrence.
Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday August 3, 2013, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, Kansas. The family will meet with friends at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday August 2, 2013.
