Margaret and Harold Jones observed their 60th wedding anniversary Friday.
The couple were married Sept. 25, 1949, at the First Methodist Church in Osage City.
Margaret is a graduate of Baker University. After serving with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, Harold attended and graduated from Kansas University. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Redfield, S.D., and eventually owned the weekly newspapers at Redfield and Webster. They retired in 1980 and moved to Lawrence on Nov. 1, 1990.
They have a daughter, Lynette Eastwold and husband Paul, St. Paul, Minn.; a son, Steven and wife Mary, Summit, N.J.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
All members of the family gathered at their son and daughter-in-law’s home on Lake George, N.Y., to celebrate the anniversary from June 25 to 30.
