What has this country come to
The Beverage Tax in my opinion is silly at best. I am beginning to wonder about what this country is coming to. I thought that little war back in 1776 was to get away from all of the taxes that were imposed on us. Now it seems some 233 yrs later we are being taxed on just about everything we have now. Let's look at the taxes that are out there. We have a beverage tax, liquor tax, cigarette tax, sales tax(I can accept that one, just not at some of the rates that are out there), Taxes on the Cable Television we watch, Taxes on the water we drink(Stinky that it is), taxes on the electricity that we use, taxes on the cell phones, and regular phones, and the stupidest one of all the Gasoline tax. And the stink of it is we as the consumer agreed to every single tax. Now I am not against taxes, I think that they are a necessary evil that a government has to have to function, but come on people let's think about some of the things that are being taxed here. It becomes ludicrous when law makers decide to start taxing soda pop and juices. Why stop with the beverages, lets start taxing any kind of food item that doesn't promote the status quoe of what a healthy person is supposed to be. And belive me when I say that would be about 99% of food on the market today. And now let's take it one step further, start taxing fast food to the point where a meal at McDonalds costs so much that the family unit must actually take the time from their self-imposed "Too busy to cook a decent meal for the family" schedule that they decided to have to cook for a change. Please understand that I am only ranting like this to prove a point. Government will find anything they can to tax and we as a people let them. Also I want those individuals that agree with the tax to take a long hard look at what could happen.
I shall now get down off the soap box
