Weekly road work update

OK, daily commuters, out-of-town shoppers and geez-I’m-finally-getting-back-home-after-the-Chiefs-game drivers… It’s time for an update on road work in the area. Here’s the rundown of projects scheduled during the next seven days along Interstate 70, from the fine folks at the Kansas Department of Transportation: ¢ From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday there will be a mobile traffic control operation for the eastbound left lane on I-70, from Carnahan Avenue to the Kansas Turnpike East Plaza in Topeka. It’s for brooming along the barrier wall. ¢ From 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. there will be a mobile traffic control operation on northbound and southbound U.S. Highway 75, from Lower Silver Lake Road to 46th Street in Topeka. That’s for brooming of the bridges. ¢ From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning Monday and running for about five days (Oct. 6-10), repair work will be conducted on westbound I-70 bridges between 18th Street and 38th Street in Wyandotte County. As crews repair bridge joints, traffic will be reduced to one lane. Drivers should expect moderate delays and are advised to use alternate routes, if possible.
