I-35 delays delayed in Johnson County

Turns out road crews aren’t immune from the same time-crunching pressures we all face. Here’s a rundown of two highway projects in the area: One that remains scheduled to disrupt your driving, and another that – for now – is putting off your detours and delays until a later date, as gleaned from information provided by the Kansas Department of Transportation:¢ Scheduling conflicts are delaying some scheduled work on some bridges in Johnson County. The work originally had been scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 8, through the morning of Saturday, Oct. 11, but has since been postponed. Crews had planned to install girders for the new interchange at Interstate 35 and Lone Elm Road, but those plans now have been postponed because of the scheduling conflicts. When the work does occur, expect both northbound and southbound I-35 to be closed from U.S. Highway 56 in Gardner to U.S. Highway169 in Olathe during overnight hours. Marked detours will be provided using U.S.169 and 175th Street.¢ The two left lanes of both eastbound and westbound Interstate 70, between 10th and 38th streets in Wyandotte County are scheduled to be closed at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, to complete pavement-marking work.
