Kanrocksas is canceled.
On its website, Midwest Music Festivals and Kansas Speedway cited "insufficient ticket sales" as the reason for not going forward with the event. Kanrocksas' ticketing agent, ground(ctrl), is refunding all tickets, and there is no plan to reschedule at this time. For questions about refunds, visit support.groundctrl.com.
The festival was set for June 28-29 at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., and was to feature more than 60 musical acts, including bands from Lawrence and headliners like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Passion Pit and Kendrick Lamar.
Kanrocksas was first held in 2011, but was postponed in 2012 because of construction at the Speedway. Aside from music, the event also featured art galleries, performance artists, trampolines, a water slide and other attractions.
Strangely enough, the Kanrocksas Twitter feed was still posting as if it was still going on. Here's the tweet sent out this morning, seven hours prior the once announcing the event was off:
We'll keep you posted if we learn more.
