Let's celebrate our first successful summer hunts together.You had the call of the wild, the hunger of the pirate, the wanderlust of the explorer. You answered the call of the hunt, and now it's time to meet your treasure seeking colleagues.This is an open invitation to the hunters of the summer treasure hunts posted on ljworld.com. I know you've had a lot of fun looking for the modest treasures, but even more fun getting out and spending a summer afternoon with family and friends. I've rented the west shelter at Dad Perry Park for a get together to share stories and discuss your ideas for next summer's hunts. Let's celebrate and share a few laughs. For those who found a treasure, bring it with you and share your story. For those who were on a hunt, but didn't find a treasure, tell us where you searched and how close you came to finding one. I remember some very close calls, especially anagram, who had the correct park, the correct clues, but the wrong treasure spot. Bring a camera for some group shots. After all, it's good to know your competition for next year.Hey, we may even plant a treasure for the younger pirates to find. Of course, the treasure will most likely be enough candy to share with the other young pirates on the hunt.You're on your own for food and drink. I have no idea if 4 or 40 will show, but it doesn't matter. I'll be there with my family and we're laid back that way. I'll have a cooler of pop, but that's about it. Just bring whatever you want to feed your family chips, sandwiches, etc. (There's a grill nearby, too. Just add a few briquettes, squirt a bit of lighter fluid, add a few dogs or burgers, and you're all set.) No booze at the shelter, though. It's a public park, eh? (I'll take a rain check on the rum. Arrrg!)If you're in a hurry, just stop in for a few minutes and say hello. Be sure to bring your young pirates as well. They were particularly good this year at finding the treasures. Just ask beerdrinkingfool, who would like to commission them all as junior pirates. Sounds great, Mr. b and Ms. p. Hope the other pirates (Megan and Mike) can make it, too. We can share stories and talk about ideas for next summer's hunts. If enough little ones come, we can hide a candy bag in the park and have them solve clues as a group.

If I get back in town for my son's bday that day, I'll try to stop by for a short while!Sounds like fun.We all had a blast at dinner Saturday night.It's fun to hear the laughter of the posters in person, and share stories!

Multi, that would be great. We ended up downtown watching the “Sure Fire” act with our youngest. If you haven't seen them, they were part of the Buster weekend, and they juggled fire to delight the crowd. BTW, Ronda gave me the location for your party, but for some reason I was thinking downtown and meeting up there. (Perhaps I wasn't thinking again.) Anyway, I'm glad you had a fond send off with a great group of folk. Take care and hope to see you there, if you can make it.

Yes, it happened to work out as something for families to do with their kids (and some grown up pirates) between Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays. Ten seemed like a good number, too, especially with school events heating up. So, we'll hold a gathering at beerdrinkingfool's request, and see who shows. I'm hoping for a nice, September afternoon. But if it rains, it rains…and we'll chat in the shelter. All are welcome, so stop on by if your schedule permits. And yes, my life is one big social faux pax called “busterfester.”
