Choices! By L. Don Oliver

Perhaps it was my ego, maybe it was my __; A decision made in haste, that I could not _;

Chains wrapped in selfishness, are the ties that _; Circling they enclosed me, within my shallowed _;

Iron bars will a prison make, for those who choose to ___; Self constructed by a fool, who never dared to __;

Teenage Spring! By L. Don Oliver

Your teenage spring, is such a frightening thing, when night never meets the day; Sometimes you cry and cry, no one can understand why, or what you are trying to say;

Parents say don't you do, what they did too, when they were your age; They think they know how, just what to do now, to write your future page;

They don't live in your time, where answers are hard to find, they can't ache the way you feel, But parents do ache at night, when you are far from their sight, their worries they try to shield;

And in the final sum, their sleep will never come, while you are still away; No one knows the secret of, this thing we call love, but it "must" be shown every day;

The Progressive Highway! By L. Don Oliver

Rust covered broken plow, Painted over by a monetary now, Is what they constantly deceive; Nothing from nothing, Will beget something; Is what they wish us to believe;

And the Progressive Highway Continues!

If never to awake, To the tactics they take, Blowing smoke into a cloud; The slight of hand tricks, The pain that it inflicts, Upon a programmed crowd;

And the Progressive Highway Continues!

Will we ever take pride, Instead of seeking to hide, From their continuing storm; No, we will acquiesce, To their final behest, And always follow the norm;

And the Progressive Highway Continues!

Brave soldiers who have died, They lay there and cry, From the gradual reforming rain; Crying deep within their soul, For the loss of their goal; Their sacrifice was all in vain;

And the Progressive Highway Continues!

Truth! By L. Don Oliver

Truth thy brilliant ray is shining, It glows through the darkened night; Offering meaning for existence, Rendering reason to the light;

The Flaming Arrow of Deceit, Is arching through the air; Swiftly spinning upon it's flight, Descending to who knows where;

When honesty becomes extinct, In the Valley of the kings; It's truth that gives solace, For what tomorrow brings,

In the Beginning! By L. Don Oliver

It was in the beginning, After he created Heaven and Earth, The Lord saw there was a void, So, he decided to create birth;

First he created two males, Instructing them to multiply; And when nothing happened, He gave it another try;

Then he created two females, Saying, "don't let me down"; And when nothing happened, He tried another round;

He then created a man and a woman, Hoping that they would rhyme; And the eternal begetting began, Thank God, it worked this time;

The hypocrites among us, At the pulpit they stand; Giving their political view points, Instead of God's command;

Pop! Goes the People! By L. Don Oliver

All around the tax tree, Politicians propagandize the sleeple; Politicians get what they've planned for, Pop! goes the People;

Matters not who's elected, The citizens will always be sheeple, When there comes any glimmer of hope, Pop! goes the people;

Close down all the plants, So none can be keeple; Send them all overseas, Pop! goes the people;

Several trillion for the Big Boys, One hundred billion for the sleazle; That's where the borrowed money goes, Pop! goes the people;

All around Old Washington Town, The Status Quo's in a teeheekle, The Elite In Crowd continues to laugh, Pop! Goes the people;

Cry of the Condemned! By L. Don Oliver

Walking down a darkened street, Within the silence of my mind; Searching for I know not what, That was so very hard to find;

Stumbling alone into the night, I felt something go rushing by; An apparition all dressed in gray, Then, I heard the Banshee's cry;

Screaming all about me, Darting here and to the fro; Swirling around my very being, Relieved as I watched her go;

Her wailing was so haunting, But I did not take time to see; And when I turned the corner, She was waiting there for me;

My Unsung Heroes! By L. Don Oliver

For every Father, there is a child; they then disappear, into the calling wild;

Many of children, go to bed; Nary a pillow, for their head;

Making do, with what they've got; Fatherly affection, they have not;

Mothers cry, alone each night; Hopes and dreams, far from sight;

Two or three jobs, they daily go; What tomorrow brings, they never know;

To the single mothers, I wish to say; Bless you all, on this Father's day;

Buried Alive! By L Don Oliver

No breath to take, Before we go down; Interred by "their" Justice, In the cold, cold, ground;

Believe in what they say, Of that which you should; For they know much better, Than you ever could;

For we are dead, Before we have died; Believing in "their" truth, That they have lied;

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ring the bell; "All is well", The false ones yell;

"Whoo-Whoo"! By L. Don Oliver

We all called him "Whoo-Whoo", No purer person you will ever find; Every morning we would gather, To watch him chugging down the line;

Every morning we would pump our fists, Like little children are oft to do; He would pull his imaginary whistle chain, Then go, "whoo-whoo", "whoo-whoo", "whoo-whoo";

"Whoo-Whoo" was a slow learner, And he wasn't very smart; One thing that he did possess, Was a great big loving heart;

The little money he made, From clearing vacant lots, To him that wasn't a great feat; Each morning he would buy bread, For all the little birds, And the small animals to eat;

One day a small child, Fell into a raging river, Running through a biting rain, That cut like a sharpened knife, With no thought of himself, "Whoo-Whoo" jumped into that river, Swam to that little child, And save that baby's life;

"Whoo-Whoo" was still mortal, He had every thing to live for, And he didn't want to die; The last seen in his existence, He was flowing down the river His hand up, waving goodbye;

They found "Whoo-Whoo" a few days later, There was nothing any one could do; Some say that off in the distance, They heard a "whoo-whoo", "whoo-whoo", "whoo-whoo";

I know that "Whoo-Whoo" is now, With God in heaven and that He is doing just fine; For each morning the angels, All gather together to watch, "Whoo-Whoo", chugging down the line;

"Our" Constitution? By L. Don Oliver

It once was a beautiful document, That was carved in granite stone; It was giving great love and care; Alas, all those cherished days have gone;

Once it contain words of promise, Words that resounded to the free; Gathered within all its wisdom, Was faith, hope, and charity;

Now they are chipping it down, Rendering it into a pile of dust; Viewing it as a pathetic relic, Worthy of only our disgust;

No meaning left for what it once stood, Told it's now filled with aggravation; That it is time to create another one, For their New "Global" Plantation;
